Our Mares

Our broodmares were purchased, or bred on the farm, to produce elastic, forward gaits and kind dispositions in their foals. We research and compare bloodlines of both our mares and the stallions that are chosen for them, to create offspring that improve on both parents. I am regularly perusing new stallion bloodlines, and combinations of lines that have proven successful over time. Our mares are carefully monitored throughout their pregnancies to ensure optimum health and to produce the best foals possible. Nutrition is one of the most invaluable tools that we implement to ensure the healthiest of foals at birth. We also maintain a strict worming and vaccination regimen, to insure the health of both the mare and foal. The mares live in a happy and healthy environment, producing foals with happy and healthy foundations. Our mares enjoy being ridden lightly until far into their pregnancy. This maintains their happy work ethic, keeps them in shape, and in touch with the humans, and us, in turn, with them. Our Foals

RHR provides a serene and carefully managed environment to produce well-bred horses each year. We pride ourselves in the time and love our foals receive during their first months of life. This attention, we feel, gives them TRUST, the foundation to become a top performer and companion in the future. All of our foals are imprinted and handled often. They are placed on a regular worming schedule and receive consistent farrier and veterinary attention from birth. All of our horses spend much of their time outdoors, in Mother Earth's world, to encourage proper mental as well as physical development. Our foals, because of their exposure to the world, are athletic, smart, and have correct confirmation. We trailer regularly to our state parks for outings and also enjoy a nearby lake and rivers with our horses to expose them to other environments and animals - equines included! Our babies lead, load, clip, work in hand, and stand for the farrier. Our foals have very good manners! Foals are shown in hand by professional handler, Russell Oden, at USDF dressage breed shows. As a result, we have noticed over the years, that the foals are very well adjusted to the show environment, and are calm when transported and stalled, even when traveling alone, early on, and after weaning. By the time our babies are sold, they are completely comfortable in a wide variety of situations. Because of their exposures from birth, their temperament is very conducive to later lessons in the arena, on the lunge and under saddle. Our sweet babies leave us as healthy and loving young horses, that are sound and correct. Comments from their new owners confirm their loving and willing attitudes.
